Meet charming and jobless Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). A bass guitarist for garage band Sex Bob-omb, the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams…literally. The only catch to winning Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)? Her seven evil exes are coming to kill him. Genre-smashing filmmaker Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) tells the amazing story of one romantic slacker’s quest to power up with love in SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD.

Scott Pilgrim has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It’s getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heart’s ass—and now is back in town—to the teenage distraction he’s trying to shake when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasn’t been easy. He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes controls her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor.

As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues’ gallery from her past—from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsome identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over.

SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD has been rated PG-13 (Parents Strongly Cautioned – Some Material May Be Inappropriate for Children Under 13) for stylized violence, sexual content, language and drug references.

  1. Oh man, where to begin. I'll have to go with the time in 7th grade that I accidentally encountered emerald weapon in Final Fantasy VII and beat it on my first try. WITHOUT the underwater materia. i beat it with about 15 seconds left on the timer. That moment hurled me one step closer to self-actualization.

  2. Probably a tie between when the Atari 2600 came out, and when the first Nintendo came out. Many hours wasted (enjoyed) those first days playing Pacman, Combat, and Super Mario Bros. Games have a come a looong way since!

The Pilgrim graphic novels have been great…looking forward to the movie!

  3. My favorite moment by far is when I beat Super Mario Bros. 3 for the first time. My heart sank when I was told that "the princess is in another castle." Always with the tricks this game!

  4. My best memory is playing Soul Calubur II with my 12 year old son. I love spending time with him playing video games. He's really good too.

  5. Definitely how my senior year in high school I was the only one of my friends who actually had classes after lunch…and every day we would go have lunch at the Pizza Hut in Madera so that we could play game after game of the original NBA Jams. Not coincidentally, I ended up with 40+ absences in my Art I class and nearly became the first graduate in Madera High history with a GPA over 4.0 to not be able to walk. Luckily my sophomore year I worked in the attendance office and the ladies loved me, so they did a little creative accounting in the mainframe for me. Even if I hadn't been able to walk, NBA Jams was worth it.

    1. Sorry I should have read the entire post.

Fav video game moment was in Final Fantasy 3 when the character Celes was pretending to be an opera singer to lure another character, Setzer, so they could use his airship. Even though it was 16 bit MIDI sound, the melody gave me goosebumps. Still my favorite Final Fantasy.

  6. My favorite memory is playing Final Fantasy VII on the sony playstation, and finishing the game for the first time. The part where Sephiroth kills Aeries was a complete shock. At that moment I knew I was hooked. I have since played every FF in the series, and any other RPG game I can find.

  7. My #1 favorite video game memory is playing with my oldest son, when he was just 5 or 6 years old, and him KICKING MY A$$ at Mortal Kombat because he just smacked random buttons in random order, and made the best combos ever :)

  8. My brother and I playing Mortal Combat and even though I always dogged moves, he would always win. Playing video games is the only way we could be in a room together when we were younger without killing each other, well, without killing each other in person…

  9. Favorite video FTL moment…
I was in 10th grade and hanging out at Disneyland with a bunch of friends. I had purchased a ton of souvenirs for myself and had them in a bag between my feet as I played 1941 (loved that game)…

I was so into the game that I did not notice that someone came up behind me and stole my bag-o-goodness. I finally lost and was like WTF…

That is when I knew I had a problem.

    Favorite FTW moment…
I just got my Adam (http://oldcomputers.net/adam.html) computer and purchased my first video game for the machine–Buck Rogers.

I played one game for 6 hours and turned the game over nearly 20 times I think. No pause button back in those days. I finally lost on purpose because I had to piss. That. Was. Awesome.

  10. the best moment i ever had playing video games is when i came out of the hospital from a appendex opporation. my little brother was home ready to kick my a$$ in some marvel game. we couldent do anything except play video game thanks to the operation but still it was worth it :)

  11. Definitely the NES, having everyone over at the house playing every morning playing games like Mike Tyson’s punch out and mario bros and being late to school everyday.

  12. When I bought my first old school Nintendo from a neighbors yard sale..Even at 11 years old I negotiated a good price!

  13. The Living Room was My familys Sanctuary. Everyday, right after school, right after work . . . Mario Brothers was our Best Friend!!! And When we were done With That ([MORTAL KOMBAT]) . . .OMG DUDE IT WAS ON LIKE DONKEY KONG. And There were only 4 buttons (ABCD) It might Have Looked Like Nothing But It Was The Shit!!!! I MISSTHOSE DAYS!!!

  14. Best memory involving video games has to be about when me and four of my friends were playing Mario Party 5 in the smallest tuff shed ever in the middle of summer. We were so into the game, we looked like we were recreating the Russian Roulette scene from The Deer Hunter!!

  15. Best memory involving video games has to be about when me and four of my friends were playing Mario Party 5 in the smallest tuff shed ever in the middle of summer. We were so into the game

  16. My best memory involving videos games would be when I had a Nintendo 64 and all of my friends would come over and play Goldeneye 007 multiplayer. What was also fun was that they would get pissed off because I would kill em all the time, no exaggeration here.

  17. best memory for me ide say be the nintendo 64 in 7thy grade we all play golden eye and other games thinking about it takres me back years

  18. When the original nintendo came out i had almost every game, i would spend all day playing. My favorites were Super Mario Bros 3 and Rainbow Island. I played it so much my mom had to hide it from me sometimes lol. I love video games :) !!!!

  19. my best memory is when i would play any video game with my 3 boy cousins and always ended up beating all of them no matter how much they tried to cheat or make me mess up.

  20. my best memory with video games was playing the super nintendo with my cousin and fighting at the end of the street fighter macth becouse he or me would cheat by doing the same move punch kick ,punch ,kick lol good times now we are all grown up but wow that took me back lol

  21. my best video game memory was playing final fantasy 12 and taking on the top boss yiazmat. it took me 10 hrs to beat him cause i was under leveled. good times

  22. When I was 12 my dad would constantly complain about the time we wasted playing our new Nintendo (the original). However, one night he came in to my room in the middle of the night and woke me up and excitedly explained how he found the warp level in the first Mario Brothers game! Apparently he was secretly playing the game after we went to sleep!

  23. I remember my first exposure to computer games. It was 1990. My two year old son disappeared. When we found him, he had made his way onto the lap of our basement tenant, playing "Commander Keen in Invasion of the Vorticons" on his new computer. Barely able to speak, he was enthralled with the game, easily learning the keyboard commands. Quickly hooked, he began a series of forays into the world of computer games and 20 years later, he's still there.

  24. The one, and only time I FINALLY beat T.M.N.T. on the N.E.S. I had a little help from the Game Genie, and a case of Bud. Totally worth it for about ten minutes. After that I went to a friends to drink more beer.

  25. Greatest VG moment had to be my first time playing The Legend of Zelda. I remember I was probably about 5 at the time and thought it was the coolest thing. That probably was the moment some switch in my head flipped and set me down the road to video game addiction. I mean looking back now, how could it not bother me the rocks in that game look like freakin' snails! :) http://bit.ly/cxf7Mg

  26. My best memory would be when I actually beat the whole Zelda: Link to the Past. ONLY game that I ever committed to playing and actually EVER beaten by myself!

  27. I remember playing Pole Position and winning the race with like a great score and running into my bedroom to get my camera because I wanted to keep that memory forever. I was yelling at my sister to not reset the Atari 2600 until I got back to take the picture. She said she wouldn't because we had been trying to get that score forever. She was waiting and when I was getting ready to take the picture, she reset it just as I pushed down on the button to take the picture. I swear if my mom hadn't been there that Atari controller would have been up her nose.

  28. SO MANY TO NAME! Oddly enough though, my favorite memory would probably have to be watching my older bro play Wizards & Warriors. I was about 8, and that game felt WAY over my head at the time, so I would sit there an basically be a back-seat gamer. "KILL THAT GUY! GET THAT TREASURE BOX! DON'T MISS THAT PLATFORM OR YOU'LL FALL ALL THE WAY DOW– AW YOU MISSED THE PLATFORM!!" Great times. Beating Rygar was #2. Monster Hunter is #3. ;D

  29. Giant slumber party. Goal was to stay up all night playing NES. Only two of us made it all way–myself and my friend Matt. We felt like rock stars.

  30. The day I went to the zoo and I saw monkeys that reminded me of Donkey Kong, in my head I imagined like I was actually in the game. The biggest monkey started throwing shit at people and I just felt like we were the bad crocodiles

I LOVE Michael Cera so I must see this!!!

  31. Growing up for me consisted of many hours spent on video games and half of that time was spent with my cousin who is a year older than me. To my recollection, we met playing a SNES game and we were immediately each other's favorite family member. From that moment on we grew up switching between each other's houses to finish a game, beat a boss, or simply speed our way down the courses of Mario Kart 64. Each of us would spend at least 10 hours a week playing SNES, N64, and Sega Genesis titles with each other. We would sometimes go as far as calling each other maybe five times within an hour to hear how the other was doing on Zombies Ate My Neighbors for the SNES. Whether it was taking the risk of getting caught playing the original Super Smash Bros. into the late hours of the night to unlock a character or playing Sega Genesis in the garage with extreme heat/freezing cold temperatures, we enjoyed every second of it. Now that we are older, it seems clear as day that we miss those days. I honestly believe that we both made a significant impact on each other's lives and will never forget the bond we made as the Super Video Game Cousins.

  32. My favorite video game memory was when my mother and us kids would stay up late on Fridays and Saturdays nights playing video games on the intellivison. We would try to beat each other score on astrosmash or burgertime.

  33. Been waiting for this movie for awhile now and would love to go see it. Michael Cera is pretty freaking hilarious with his awkward offbeat comedy. What makes this movie even better is it's crazy whacked out originality. I hope i get to see it.

  34. You you should change the page subject Win tickets to an advance screening of SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD » Dumb Drum to more catching for your webpage you make. I enjoyed the blog post nevertheless.
