It’s that time of year again. Consider this your official reminder to get your team together and start throwing ideas around for Swede Fest 6. It all goes down on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 5 p.m. at Starline in the Tower District. We’re still all ages and still absolutely FREE. So what do you need to know if you’re submitting an entry? Glad you asked! The deadline for entries is Monday, November 1st at midnight. The rules are simple, as always:
- Entries must not exceed 5 minutes in length.
- Entries must not use any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws. Swede Fest is an all ages event so please keep that in mind. Feel free to swede Pulp Fiction but use creative ways to cut out the bad stuff.
- We must have your entry on DVD or preferably a digital file (.mov or .avi). Please email us prior to the deadline to make arrangements for turning in your entry.
- We ask that participants DO NOT upload their entries to YouTube, Vimeo, etc. before they screen at Swede Fest 6.
- If you have any questions, concerns, or need to contact us for any reason, please email us at info@dumbdrum.com. Also, as a courtesy, let us know if you’re planning to submit an entry ahead of time.
If you’re looking for some inspiration, you can check out all our past entries at the official Swede Fest website. Traditionally, people have swedes movies. Sometimes they try to tackle the entire film, sometimes just the trailer, and other times just a scene. Other folks have branched out and sweded a TV show, TV news coverage, and even a public service announcement. So feel free to get creative (Psss… this concept hasn’t been done locally. So if you’re looking for an angle, go for it)!
Gather up your friends, make a list of your favorite movies, bust out your camera, and get your swede on! It’s a fun experience and there’s nothing like being at Swede Fest and seeing your entry on the big screen! As the director of Be Kind Rewind & creator of sweding Michel Gondry once said, “You’ll like this film because you’re in it!”. And one last thing: a big THANK YOU goes out to John Rios of Dead Days fame, for designing that awesome Swede Fest 6 poster up above. We could gaze upon it for days! [Post a comment] [SwedeFest.com]
That graphic totally rocks!
While I work on my swede for Over the Top, is it possible to get a print version of that poster for the office windows?
We're trying to get some posters printed out and if we do, we'll get you guys one to display.
great design! i'll print out my own if you post a PDF.
Awesome program. Excellent poster/graphic. Thanks for the prompt post. I have spread the news.
We're super excited to be back at Starline! The only difference will be the bar will be open on the restaurant side only, as to keep it all ages.
I love the graphic, particularly the scissors in that we used to use scissors and razor blades to splice tape in the old days. The only thing missing is the yellow grease pencil!
Crap man, that poster is spectacular. Props to Mr. Rios on that one.
