Clint Eastwood is getting old and he knows it. And now comes word that the Man With No Name has decided that this will be his last role as an actor deciding to stick to directing from now on out. Sucks but hey, if he wants to go the Sean Connery route, more power to him. As far as Gran Torino goes, the concept sounds pretty cool:
His Gran Torino character is Walt Kowalski, a racist Korean War veteran whose prized possession is a classic car that catches the eye of local gangs in his Detroit neighborhood. One of the troubled kids who covets the vehicle is from a family of Hmong immigrant neighbors, whom Kowalski has long resented.
“Hmong immigrant neighbors”, huh? Now why wasn’t this shot here in Fresno? Or was it!? Dang, no way Ray Arthur would of been able to keep this completely under wraps, right? Anyways, it’s good to see the Hmong community represented in film (we’ll have to wait and see how accurate that portrayal turns out, though) so this one might be one to keep your eye on. Plus, it involves a classic car so what’s not to like? (via Latino Review)
They did do casting in Fresno for this movie.
Nice! I wonder if any Fresnans will get some screen time!
