Star Wars Saga coming to Blu-Ray, lost “Jedi” scene revealed & watch
Jon Stewart interview George Lucas

This past weekend brought us Star Wars Celebration V and from there came a bunch of news for all us Star Wars fans. First off, George Lucas finally made it official that the Saga is finally officially coming to Blu-Ray and will include a crapload of extras including your standard behind-the-scenes stuff, including deleted scenes. The bad news is that this won’t happen until the fall of 2011. Yep, so start saving up because you know Lucasfilm is all about taking your hard earned nerd bucks and something tells me this set will not be cheap. In the mean time, Lucas deemed it cool to release a deleted scene from “Return Of The Jedi” to hold us over and although it’s short, it’s pretty cool to see new footage from the original trilogy. Apparently the scene, which depicts Luke putting together his green lightsaber and prepping R2-D2 to launch it to him before going in to save Han & Leia, had all the effects done and was ready to go but ended up getting cut right before the film’s release. Check out the clip after the break as well as an hour long interview by funny man Jon Stewart with the creator himself George Lucas, as well as some guests who joined the chat.

Pretty damn cool, huh? You can see a better version of the clip over here as Lucasfilm has already started killing the clip from going around the net. Yeah, I hope they have some more of that kind of stuff on the Blu-Ray discs when they finally drop next year. It seems so far away :( Anyways, here is the interview (in 7 parts) between Stewart & Lucas. Enjoy!

  1. And The Fresnan says we don't post Star Wars stuff! :)

BTW, I had an uber nerdgasm when I watched the deleted scene from ROTJ. Pure nerd joy.
