The Reel Pride Film Festival kicks off tonight in the Tower District and goes until September 19th. It’s their 21st year and festival organizers have amassed 5 days worth of films spread across The Tower Theatre and Starline. But one of the most talked about and anticipated films of the fest has to be the Allen Ginsberg biopic starring James Franco, “Howl.” The film centers around the 1957 obscenity case against Ginsberg’s poem, which eventually established legal precedence and guaranteed first amendment rights for controversial works of literature.
Tickets run around $10 for each screening and can only be purchased at the Tower box office.
