COWBOYS & ALIENS

Blockbuster filmmaker Jon Favreau directs Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in an event film that crosses the classic Western with the alien-invasion movie in a blazingly original way: Cowboys & Aliens. Joined by an arsenal of top moviemakers—Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci—he brings an all-new action thriller that will take audiences into the Old West, where a lone cowboy leads an uprising against a terror from beyond our world.

1875. New Mexico Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

The screenplay for Cowboys & Aliens is by Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman & Damon Lindelof and Mark Fergus & Hawk Ostby, from a screen story by Fergus & Ostby and Steve Oedekerk. It is based on Platinum Studios’ “Cowboys & Aliens” by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. Grazer, Howard, Kurtzman, Orci and Rosenberg produce. Spielberg, Favreau, Denis L. Stewart, Bobby Cohen, Randy Greenberg and Ryan Kavanaugh executive producer.

COWBOYS & ALIENS has been rated PG-13 (Parents Strongly Cautioned – Some Material May Be Inappropriate for Children Under 13) for intense sequences of western and sci-fi action and violence, some partial nudity and a brief crude reference.

  3. I know it’s not a straight-up “Harrison Ford” movie per se, but I’m going to go with Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back. I remember watching that film as a girl and when he said “I know” to Princess Leia, my heart melted.

  4. Ok the Indiana Jones movies were his biggest claim to fame, but I’m still partial to Air Force One too.

  14. While overshadowed by “New Hope” that same year, his role in “Heroes” takes me back to saturday afternoons (circa 1985) watching KMPH’s (26) feature movie presentations with my dad.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yO8f7rPlrAThat was actually the first time I recall seeing señor Ford. Kinda holds  a special place in my heart, along with a handfull of other saturday afternoon flicks like “The Duel” etc… WOW time warp huhhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MtAMc4i8OA

  15. Bladerunner because he a likeable dauchebag. As for movies he appears in but isnt the main star: Empire Strikes Back because plays the likeable dauchebag even better.

  16. Hmm.. Star Wars was pretty damn good… Indiana Jones was great too. hahah this might be my new favorite, you guys gotta send me though!

  18. Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of his best. Great time period and subject matter. And it’s going to be fun seeing him in a sci-fi western. Thanks!

  19. It has to be STar Wars of course.I was what ? all of 11 yrs old. The beginning blew me away. Way before its time and Ford was the coolest space cowboy ever,LOVED IT..Still do..

  20. Two forgotten ones…Mosquito Coast and Frantic. But I’ve generally liked all the movies he’s been in.

  21. I loved him in American Graffiti! Star Wars and Indie movies are great too. Am I the only one who liked the Last Crusade the best? Hello, River Phoenix.

  22. My favorite Harrison Ford film was Star Wars,it was the first film I had seen him in. The canteen scene was one of my favorite parts. Hans Solo is still my favorite character in the Star Wars saga.

  23. My favorite Harrison Ford film was Star Wars,it was the first film I had seen him in. The canteen scene was one of my favorite parts. Hans Solo is still my favorite character in the Star Wars saga.

  24. I’m so torn between so many films. From the Fugitive, to Star Wars, to the Tom Clancy films. Heck, I even like Witness! But I do have a cat I call “Indy”, so that might be a little telling about which is my real fave. =)

  25. Definitely loved his performance in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. He played the perfect balance between action hero and sarcastic character.

  26. Favorite Harrison Ford movie is definitely Empire Strikes Back. When he utters, “I know,” after Leia professes her love is so badass. Long live Han Solo.

  27. my favorite  Harrison Ford movie is  Indiana Jones  of coarse. he was the only reason i watch those films. super sexy

  28. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is my favorite HF movie.
I remember being a kid watching it, it was the first movie my parents let me go to the theater alone and see.

  29. All those movies are great but the one I recently saw was the one with Diane Keaton, Morning Glory. I’ve seen all those movies you guys mentioned but seeing Harrison Ford in a different role other than action actually made it more enjoyable because I’ve never seen him in a comedical role. As for Daniel Craig he just kicks butt! He totaly kills in his James Bond films. Oh yeah, reason why I liked Morning Glory so much was because it allowed me to sit close by my girlfriend. It was a total chick flick but worth it!

  30. I’m down to winning some free movie passes….   My favorite Harrison Ford movie has to be the Star Wars Trilogy. Han Solo is the man!!

  31. My favorite movie of all times got to be Airforce One, and Fugitive I love all his action movies. I believe his acting is great for his age.

  34. i love all Harrison Ford movies, My son is a huge Alien Movie Fan Preview looks interesting I would definitively take him to see this one.

  35. What a combination of producer, directors and actors…a win win situation. I have to say, when it comes to Harrison Ford movies, I loved Regarding Henry. I loved that it seemed to challenge him as an actor. Your heart went out to Henry, even though, he was a ruthless businessman and a cheating husband in his past..all was forgiven and forgotten.

  36. Where do you start I mean the man is an american icon, he was great as Rick Deckard in blade Runner, I mean just look at his first acting job Star Wars, the man is a natural. I love all of his movies, people will be watching his movies 100 years from now saying we need actors like that now.

  37. I allways have been a huge Harisson Ford fan ever since he starred in “Star Wars”.  The mans is a phenomenal actor and I can’t wait to see this new movie that’s coming out.

And much more when I see the movie !!!

  41. I loved the Fugitive!  Harrison Ford is such aa good actor. He draws you into his character, no matter what he plays.

  42. II am 38 yrs old and going back my favorite has always been Indiana Jones!!! I think that after he got married he got so much backlash about there age difference that since then he has fallen off the radar. I am so happy to see that he is back! Can I just say, that you are awsome for doing something like this!!! We are afamily of 5 and since my mom had a stroke years ago money has been tight to say the least. We have not been to a movie theater in years, so this would be a treat! Thank you again for putting this oppertunity out there.

  43. I have enjoyed Harrison Ford Movies for a long time. My family enjoys Indiana Jones series. My favorite that I have watched over and over is of course The Fugitive.  But Star Wars will never die in our home. My husband remembers going to the theater and not expecting much out of Star Wars (later named episode IV: A New Hope) and leaving only to return 10 more times. the rest is history. Myself I also loved seeing a softer side to him in Sabrina. My husband loved the American Graffiti Movies and Air Force One, Apaocalyse Now and Blade Runner.

  44. My favorite Harrison Ford movie – Maybe Cowboys and Aliens is better than all his previous movies – have to see…

  45. Favorite Harrison Ford Movie has got to be Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Not the most popular pick for best Indy movie, but I’ve always loved it more than Raiders.

  46. Probably one of the most distinguished actors of our time, Harrison Ford has given a new meaning to the term “silver screen” with memorable performances as “Han Solo” in Star Wars, and “Indiana Jones” in the Indiana Jones franchise. But for me the most intruiging role was “Dr. Richard Kimbal” in The Fugitive.
