I still remember reading about The Wachowski Brothers back in the days when their Assassins script was hacked up and turned into that fantabulous Richard Donner film. There was talk about this crazy, sci-fi film they had been working on called The Matrix. Didn’t hear another damn thing until I saw that first trailer which was overshadowed in 1999 by The Phantom Menace. Fucken aye! The look, the music (that piece of Enigma music first used by Renny Harlin’s The Long Kiss Goodnight worked fucken perfect) the action: yeah, I just knew this was gonna be bad-ass. And sure enough, it was true. Well, it’s been 10 years (holy shit, I’m old!) and tonight presents you with an opportunity to catch the classic film back on the big screen as it’s tonight’s Flashback Feature. The whole thing goes down at 9pm tonight at Edwards Theater and tickets are $5. Although no formal Dumb Drum Gettogether was planned, some of us will be out there so I hope to see you guys out there. [Insert corny Matrix related pun here]. Check out the classic trailer after the break!
And just for ol’ times sake, listen for that Enigma music towards the end of The Long Kiss Goodnight trailer. Which one used it better?
Renny Harlin, the Uwe Boll of non-video game inspired movies.
