When I first heard last year that David Fincher was making a movie about Facebook, I too was with the general public when that collective “Ugh…” was let out. But I started thinking “Man, Fincher doesn’t just come out for any movie script so maybe there’s something special here.” From the looks of this trailer, I have to say I am intrigued. So intrigued that if I actually read books these days that weren’t of the comic book variety, I’d go and purchase the one that this film if based on. Half truths or not, the film looks pretty cool even though Jesse “Poor man’s Michael Cera” Eisenberg is in it. So what do ya’ll Facebookers think? Dislike or like?
I made it 18 seconds into the trailer. Meh.
But I will say this: Jesse Eisenberg is not the poor man's Michael Cera. Michael Cera has become a sad mockery of himself (though Scott Pilgrim might break him out of his Michael Cera-ness), but Eisenberg was pretty good in The Squid and the Whale and in Zombieland.
Looks pretty good! Heather, you definitely missed the best parts of the trailer if you didn't get past the montages.
I was also pretty ambivalent to the idea of this movie, but I think the trailer just sold it to me. I hope the trailer doesn't end up being the best thing about it though. Maybe I'll wait for rental. Thanks for posting it.
