Red band trailer is NSFW. Judd Apatow returns with his third film (yup, he’s only done three films and alreay he’s been given the title of greatest comedy director of all time) and this red band trailer provides us with some funny, adult bits from the upcoming film. We also get a special appearance from RZA and Eric Bana’s character get some screen time and looks to be hilarious. Funny People. Yeah, the title is the only thing that kinda bugs me but maybe it’ll make sense once I see the film with all these funny people in it. OOOOHHHH, I get it! Wonder if this will be able to surpass The Hangover as the comedy of the year (which I don’t think The Hangover was but the box office speaks for itself). I only hope that the Asian doctor is in this one, too.
I think Apatow is at his funny best when he stays in the real world and injects a little heart (cf. Freaks and Geeks). I’m looking forward to this.
Also I don’t think this film is supposed to be anywhere near the same planet as The Hangover. People expecting that will be disappointed.
“The Hangover” was good, slapstick comedy that worked well but like you mentioned about Apatow’s style of adding a bit of humanity into his works, it’s been awesome with his two previous feature film efforts (“40-Year Old Virgin” and “Knocked Up”). And I think people might head into this one with slapstick intentions (especially with Sandler in the lead) and come out disappointed, similar to “Observe & Report” earlier this year.
I would like Jason Schwartzman to fuck his way out of my corner.
What? Ew. Just kidding. But not really.
