A few months back, I went to Disneyland and I being the slight Star Wars fan, I rode the Star Tours ride. It had been ages since I had last experienced the attraction and I was kinda looking forward to it and much like my prom night, it was short, not very exciting and over all disappointing. Before that, I had hear rumblings that the ride was getting a much needed make-over and this weekend at D23 (basically Comic-Con for Disney fanatics) a trailer was released for the revamp, Star Tours II. Not much is revealed but the fact that podracing is involved makes this guys a happy fanboy. Sure, some people seem to dislike the concept but I for one thought that the podracing sequence from Episode 1 was one of the highlights of the prequels and HELLA look forward to seeing a ride built around the concept. What do you guys think? Are you sad to see the old ride go away or are we ready for this decade’s model?
Lame, so lame.
I'm hoping it looks much, much better, and far more interesting in person. I've been looking forward to something new, but this short clip makes me worried that this isn't what I've been looking forward to.
And seriously — I can't wait another 22 years for a NEW new one.
Fucking gay. My disappointment knows zero boundaries. The greatest parts of Star Tours was that it had a.) the Death Star, and b.) the wait in line. C3PO and R2 bantering in the first big room, the robots who refused to stop jawing and get their work done…and then on the ride, that unholy scream of the TIE Fighters flying past…
Instead, hold on to your hats folks, for a big fucking Kanye-style douching of Jar-Jar binks and fucking "Thissa chinee foo tast-a bad to you, chancellor?" and a bunch of retarded robot troops swapping heads and running into one another.
And the podrace? Come the shit on. It was the highlight of a CRAP movie. A polished turd is still a turd. We're not even going to get a space battle? Just a fucking wrench thrown at us? One less reason to give my money to Walt's cryogenic fund.
In case you can't tell, I'm unhappy.
Man, you are really shaken about this. I highly doubt the whole thing will be podracing based as the couplings towards the end of the trailer break and launch the viewer into space which leads me to think that you just might get an updated TIE fighter sequence & Death Star run.
Yeah cause pod racers can lose their engines which then enambles them for interstellar travel. As long as they don't have Anakin comparing Padme to the fucking desert I'm cool with what they do.
Whatever they do, the ride needs to be updated. When I went back in August I was saddened that the ride felt old. You could barely hear Pee Wee Herman's voice from the robot and the ride didn't feel all that smooth. According to wikipedia (which is never wrong) they are going to update it with a HD Disney 3D screen (which should make one Bryan Harley irate), improved motion simulator, and "other" special effects.
Yeah, I just read about the 3-D thing. I fucking hate 3-D. I'll try to reserve judgment until the attraction opens in 2011, but right now this is looking like something I'll ride once, and then forget about forever.
it could look better but podracing seems dull and slow to me, rather jump into the millenium falcon
