And here we go. After the whole Cheadle/Howard recasting now we get news that negotiations between Marvel & Sam Jackson are not working out and the actor has been quoted in the LA Times as saying that he might not be playing the head of SHIELD after his special appearance as the guy at the end of Iron Man. Now you would think that after the shit tons of money & praise they got from the first film that they would be bending over backwards to get this guy happy & on board.
“I saw [‘Iron Man’ and ‘Iron Man 2’ director] Jon Favreau at the Scream Awards and we had a conversation. He said, ‘I hope things are working out for you because we’re writing stuff for you.’ Then all of a sudden last week I talked to my agents and manager and things aren’t really working that well.”
Yeah, that’s not good. Obviosuly Favreau wants him in but the trouble is all on the studio. They did the same thing with wanting to not properly compensate the director for him to return to the sequel but they caved. And now this. Something’s not right here, man. Regardless, people are going to see the film when it’s released, Jackson or not. But I can hear the fanboys drawing up the petition to stop the film as I type this. What do you guys think? The only thing that comes to mind is: WTF?!? They would just be letting a perfect marketing tie-in campaign go to waste. Not only that, but Sam Jackson would bring so much pull/draw to the movie from his own fan-base. I hope it works out in the end.
the way i figure it is that barely any people actually saw sam jackson in the role. wait, i need to re-watch iron man. i can’t remember how much he was in it. was he just a flash on screen like cap america’s shield or did he actually talk.
effin brain.
He showed up after the credits and had a shorts scene talking with Tony.
