Rogue Film 2011 starts Saturday

Fresno’s super duper awesome Rogue Performance and Art Festival kicks off tonight, and if you’ve never heard of it, shame on you and head over to the Fresno Bee for some schoolin’. But being the movie-loving geeks we are, we wanted to especially remind you about the Rogue Film component. It starts on Saturday and is comprised of several locally produced films, including the feature “Stricken” from North Fork filmmaker Matt Sconce, who we talked to a couple months ago. We’re all about supporting local film here at Dumb Drum, so we urge you to head out this weekend or next and support it too! Rogue Film breaks down into four programs and you can get all the deets after the break!

“It’s a Mad, Glad, Sad, Bad World” – Audacious Aperture, 5 mins
A parody of the infamous “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.” Instead of looking in Santa Rosita park, the cast of characters are looking local–Fresno–to find the buried treasure under the big “W”.

“Time for Visions and Revisions” – Jay Leech & Gregory Ramirez, 15 mins
Two English/film instructors with time on their hands present a series of short films.

A bored highway flagger (you know, those guys at construction zones holding up the “Slow” signs) tries to keep himself entertained during another tedious day on the job. Written and directed by Rogue favorite Barry Smith (Jesus in Montana, Every Job I’ve Ever Had).

“Rev Gone Rogue” – Reverend Nuge, 30 mins
Writer/Performer Tommy “the Reverend Nuge” Nugent kicks off his 2010 touring season with trip to the Rogue, a video camera, and a quest to meet interesting people and hear their stories. See the Rev hanging out with Fresno favorites including Chuck Leonard, Airplane Jayne, and the ‘Godfather of Rogue’ himself.

Friday, 3/11/11 7:00pm
Saturday, 3/12/11 1:oopm

These projects were filmed here locally in the Central Valley. This variety package leads to showcase creative entertainment.
