Mortal Kombat returns in some mysterious, disturbing form in trailer

I still remember when Firebaugh got it’s first “Mortal Kombat” arcade at the B&B Liquor and the relief that I wouldn’t have to yearn for those weekend trips into Fresno’s CyberStation at Manchester or Tilt Arcade in Fashion Fair to play my favorite new game. It’s been a while since then and with a handful of iterations of that game having been released since the original, only a couple were ever able to recapture the allure of the original. The franchise died a much deserved death and left me with only the memories of those glorious, digitized graphic days. Lo and behold, this little trailer (featuring actors Michael Jai White & Jeri Ryan) appeared out of nowhere this week. Not word on whether this is a test for the long rumored relaunch of the IP as a film franchise but all signs point not towards that but rather a new, reimagined version of the video game franchise. With E3 just around the corner, don’t be surprised if we get more answers real soon. In the mean time, enjoy this pretty awesome trailer for what could be the next bad-ass game for your home console.

  1. I always thought that if any franchise can benefit from modern film technology is The Mortal Kombat franchise. I will always be a 3rd person gamer. If a new movie is in the works, I hope they take their time with this project & if a remake of the game is in the works, man I can't wait til it comes out…….

P.S. The only arcade games in Firebaugh now are at Pizza Factory…..

    1. Yeah, we'll see what they can do with this iteration. I'm sure we'll find out next week at E3, too.

Lame! And last time I went, they had wack games, too. Kids need more things to do in Firebaugh besides drugs and make babies :(
