Hideo Kojima’s 15 films that influenced Metal Gear Solid

kojima-15-fav-flicksLately, I’ve been real unproductive. Why? Well, grandmaster Hideo Kojima’s beautiful creation that is Metal Gear Solid 4, of course! The game just engulfs your head with it’s beautiful cinematics, it’s retina detaching action sequences and convoluted storyline (yeah, if you’ve never played any of the other games, your gonna be lost). So where does Kojima-san get all these crazy ideas? Well according to Siliconera, these are his film influences for the series (in case that image didn’t already spoil it for ya):

The Guns of Navarone
The Great Escape
Goldfinger
2001: A Space Odyssey
Planet of the Apes (original work)
The Deer Hunter
Dawn of the Dead
Full Metal Jacket
Predator
Die Hard
Heat
Black Hawk Down
Children of Men
Bourne Series
007 Casino Royale

Interesting choices on that list. I would of expected some of these and after reading the list, I can definately see the influences from some of the others I didn’t think of before. [via Joystiq]

  1. When I’m not working on the movie or getting ready for my upcoming shoots, I relax with some “Fallout 3.” All I can say is, WOW! It’s been a while since I’ve played any of the MGS games.

    1. Fallout 3’s RPG style gameplay doesn’t really grab me. Yeah, I know: one can argue that MGS4 is an action-RPG as well but there’s something else about it….
