San Diego becomes Mecca for nerds as Comic-Con commences this week

Last time I went to San Diego Comic-Con was 1992 and it was a crazy house full of weirdos & people dressed up like idiots. And I loved it! Okay that’s not entirely true. I HATED all the fucking people and even thought I was 12 years old, I still had to push much older nerds around to get the fuck outta my way (I could do that). And that was back then before it all went nuclear and Hollywood invaded the scene with their Twilight panels. I vowed that the crowds alone would prevent me from ever going back. But this year, for the first time, I felt like attending the event. Tickets have been long sold out so there’s no chance of attending this year but I’m stating this right now: next year I will be attending this event. Almost 20 years in between visits should serve as a good cooling off period so we’ll see what be going on come 2010. Who’s down to caravan down to San Diego next year? Comment away in the comment sectin (makes sense) and we’ll get something started if peeps are interested in getting a Fresno caravan rollin’! Disney is starting the viral campaign for Tron 2 and now there’s a site & timer that’s counting down that ends at 9:30pm on Thursday [via Slash Film]
