Kevin Smith is a director that you either admire for his ability to service his audience or you hate for not going outside his comfort zone. With his latest film “Red State” he’s definitely ready to shatter all perceptions and by the look of this first trailer, he’s gonna do it. Independently financed, the film has already landed a spot at Sundance (the very same film festival that launched his career with “Clerks” in 1994) and looks like everything Smith is doing with the film is unorthodox (from reportedly have studios bid for his film immediately after the screening at Sundance to refusing to do press for the film outside of his hugely popular SModcast podcast network of shows) and perhaps that’s what the filmmaker needs to do to reinvent himself, by reinventing the way a film is brought to an audience. I’m a die hard Smith fan and even though “Cop Out” was pretty much teh suck, this trailer looks stunning. Any trailer cut these days that reveals as little plot details as possible but still keeps me visually interested I must applaud. What do you guys think?
Looks pretty interesting, I'll give him that.
