Dem Trailers: Catfish

Whatever you do, don’t talk about this movie. That seems to be the common thread in all stories I’ve read about this film ever since it made a splash at Sundance earlier this year and although this trailer seems to have been out for a while, I barely got to it recently. Not really sure what to think of the film from this trailer but damned if I’m not intrigued by the concept of what happens at the conclusion of the film. So what do you think? Is this an internet hype-machine or an engrossing documentary that will truly blow your socks off?

  1. I'm kind of bored with the whole faux documentary thing (how many years has it been since Blair Witch?), but it does look interesting.

    1. I doubt it's real. If anything truly "shattering" happened, we'd have heard about it on the news. The videos would be on YouTube. But if it's a good story, I say go with it.

    2. Agreed. But if I was an aspiring filmmaker and I had this amazing story/event on film, I'd hella keep that close to the chest… until I got a movie deal out of it, of course :)

    3. In any case, this kind of debate is exactly the point of a marketing campaign like this. So it's a win-win for them. Time will tell.

  2. if the people say that the end of the shocking then the beginning must be of no interest. why doesnt one of the film critics just say " just go to see the last half, its worth it, especially since i saw it for free." conlan is right faux docs are getting old, and lame and a bunch of other words in my head that im too lazy at the moment to think of what they are. a great movie should be great from start to finish and not just a payoff at the end aka an apology for such crappy first half of the movie
