Circuit City is closing…

cc1Yep, it’s true. After failing to find a buyer, Circuit City will be closing their remaining 567 stores and eliminating 34,000 jobs across the US.

While this really, really sucks for a lot of people… there IS a slight positive for us NERDS…. uber amazing going-out-business sales, which may begin as soon as Saturday.

In case you’re not keeping track, this recession has claimed: KB Toys, Mervyns, Linens ‘N Things, and possibly more to come (*ahem* Gottschalks). Fack.

UPDATE: Well those uber amazing going-out-of-business sales turned out to be less than spectacular. From what I can tell… it’s 30% cables and mobile accessories (wtf?) and 10% everything else. Yeah, pretty lame. Hopefully that changes soon.

    1. Totally. It usually takes a half hour of looking at something before someone would help me a Best Buy and then I usually know more than the salesman (and I don’t know squat).

  1. Best Buy & Circuit City are filled with a bunch of dumb asses! The CC workers were visibly shook & rude when I went in on Sat. But I can’t really blame them too much since they did lose their jobs. But at least this didn’t happen here in town. Crazyness!

  2. Well you can’t blame them for being rude. It must be hard to go to work there and remain pleasant knowing it’s all in vain. ¡Circuit City por vida!

  3. Had my first 120hz experience at CC. I’ll never forget it. I don’t think I have anything bad to say about CC. Best Buy on the other hand can suck a fatty. I would have taken CC over BB any day. Doesn’t really make a difference though, I buy almost everything online these days.
