Alamo Drafthouse’s 2010 Rolling Roadshow comes to the Central Valley and blood there will be…

It seems that whenever our nerd conversations here at Dumb Drum HQ turn toward opening up an independent theater here in Fresno, following the example of the Alamo Drafthouse is something we always agree on. Although that happening might be far in the future times, there will be a chance for everyone here in the Central Valley to have a taste of exactly how cool the Alamo Drafthouse really is when it brings it’s Rolling Roadshow into the Central Valley on Sunday, August 8 in Bakersfield for an outdoor screening of P.T. Anderson’s “There Will Be Blood”. So why Bakersfield? Well, you see, the point of the Rolling Roadshow is to have movie screenings at locations related to the films that they screen and in this case, the screening for the film will be held at the Kern County Museum where a recount of the area’s rich oil history is on display including an oil derrick that was used by the director as a model to build the one used in the film. According to the press release, “the screening will be held under the shadow of this derrick” so that should be awesome. The event is FREE and may feature “surprise celebrity guests” as well as other events are being planned. So what do you guys say? Should we get a caravan going to roll down to Bakersfield to catch this once in a lifetime event? (Who thought that sentence would ever be muttered, right? “Once in a lifetime” and “Bakersfield” go together like dog food and maple syrup.)
