Edwards summer ‘Flashback Features’ announced!

edwardsYou didn’t think those weekly Flashback Features over at Edwards were going to end next Thursday after Titanic, did you? Of course not! Regal has just announced another 16 weeks of films, which will last us until July 23rd! Showtimes are Thursdays at 8 p.m. (that’s one hour earlier than before!) and the cost remains $5. Can’t beat that!

Before you scope out the new line-up below, I’ve got a challenge for downtown theater spaces like Warnors and Crest…. start doing flashback features!! We movie nerds just can’t get enough. They’re fun, they bring in lots of folks, and they’re seemingly profitable. If we can’t get a full blown movie theater downtown, I’d at least settle for once-a-week flashbacks. Make it happen! And now for the new line-up….

April 9 – Fatal Attraction
April 16 – The Silence of the Lambs
April 23 – Happy Gilmore
April 30 – Dazed and Confused
May 7 – Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
May 14 – Apollo 13
May 21 – Jerry Maguire
May 28 – Ghost
June 4 – The Fifth Element
June 11 – The Godfather
June 18 – A Clockwork Orange
June 25 – The Fast and the Furious
(Brodie’s head just exploded)
July 2 – Gladiator
July 9 – Forrest Gump
July 16 – Reservoir Dogs
July 23 – Grease

So whaddya think? Thumbs up, thumbs down? Let us know in the comments!

  1. the real way for downtown theaters to do it up right would be to show second run films…and serve food & booze. other theaters in cali are doing it and doing it well.

  2. I agree Ed, a second-run theater would be great. You will need a space dedicated completely to showing movies though. Warnors and Crest want to be performance venues as well. I don’t think distributors will let you do both.

  3. I agree with Heather: New earlier time might mean no Dumb Drum Gettogethers. Or maybe we can do it after the movie. Hmmmm….. As for a downtown theater, yes, we need something like this to happen and as Ed mentioned, a place that serves drinks & food like the Alamo Drafthouse would be friggin awesome!

  4. The line up looks awesome in that it’s an amazingly wide range of styles of film. :) Way to reach a broad audience!

And I agree, movies and booze and stuff :) wonderful!

  5. i don’t like the 8pm start time. i got stuff to do. and, every place in north fresno closes at like 9:30, so it’s not like you can do a post movie thing out there. so, a postshow drink up has to happen in tower. wait, why am i complaining about this? okay 8pm start time.

as for the films, the first set doesn’t do much for me. but, starting june 4, we got a bunch of good films in a row!

  6. I THINK World Sports stays open past ten on weeknights, so that might be an option for post boozing.

And yes, a downtown all movie house with drinking, would be awesome.
